Ignore Your Age, Woman: A Poem
Slap a coat of makeup on slowly pruning face
and use some mascara to outline those eyes
don't be your passport mugshot in any case
crown it with a charm and feel like a prize.
Never give up on looking your best
let mirror seduce you with that look
with that flame out there goes rest
beat lazy spirit with a phone book.
Life is not over yet, regardless how it feels
forget number on your last birthday card
and even if you can't wear high heals
not a reason to go on yourself hard.
Lose couple of pounds for that hidden dress
the one with secret hope you'll fit in one day
straighten up that posture blamed on stress
restyle your hair even if you will keep it grey.
Be a woman, not the one of that wedding gown
but a woman that has never lost any of her wit
one that has no intention to let herself down
defying age and all things prescribed for it.
