If You Can't Be the Sun Be the Moon

Writing poetry is an alternative form of self-expression for Audrey. " It's how I release my deepest thoughts and emotions."

Paint Pouring

My first painted rock.

My first painted rock.

Finding Another Way

I've wanted to be able to draw ever since I was a kid. That hasn't changed. I practice regularly, and every-so-often I come up with a decent-looking flower. My family takes pity on me from time to time and supplies me with almost every drawing book on Amazon. One of my problems occurs when I'm trying to draw something like a chair. I picture the chair's image and go from there when I should see shapes, lines, forms, and colors.

Anyhow, one day, I decided that instead of drawing, I might do better at painting. I've always loved rocks, all kinds, and sizes. I went on a hunt for river rocks, hauled my treasures home, and immediately found an instruction video on "paint pouring."

It was love at first sight, and the thrill still lingers today.

Life offers us alternatives when faced with something we can't do. Theodore Roosevelt said it best: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."

If You Can't Be the Sun Be the Moon

If you can't be the Sun

Be the Moon

If you can't sing opera

Hum a tune

If you don't feel happy

Just be funny

You can make a dark day

Bright and sunny

If you're feeling all alone

Help another

Reach out

To a sister or brother

If you can't climb a mountain

Climb a mound

There is another way

To be found

It's okay to take a moment

And just be

Bless the present

At that moment you are free

If you can't take big steps

Start with small

The power within

Will conquer all.

Let Your Light Shine

Be The Moon. Let your light shine.

Be The Moon. Let your light shine.

Find a Different Route

Just because you’ve come to a dead end, it’s not time to give up. Find a different route and keep pressing forward
