If Walls Could Only Talk

Updated on October 9, 2017

If walls could only talk,

The stories we would hear,

Grandma’s best intentions,

Grandpa’s secret fears.

A voice of yesterday,

Long, but not forgotten.

History being brought to light,

Through the timber’s rotten.

One thing is for certain,

Not one thought was wrong,

Love and joy lived in this house,

Great makings for a song.

Sweat and work that made a home,

Carry loads of lessons taught,

Teaching words of wisdom,

For every battle fought.

News be spread here and far,

Make memories seem so clear,

Bless the ones who survive,

The wickedness we fear.

Pass this house when times see fit,

Remember what has been,

The future can look brighter,

Reminiscing way back then.

Yes, Anusha, I value good memories. It kinda makes me homesick for yesterday and all those we are missing.

This made me remember my grandma's place, a childhood holiday home... we created some of the fondest of our memories there. I could sense from your writing, that you really value these memories too.

      Great creation.

Thank you, Jackie. I was inspired by a picture of an old house a friend posted on Facebook.
