If My Poems Could Fake Tears: A Poem
If I were some market-minded dude
I'd try writing poems dipped in tears
making them as poignant as I could
draining hearts of those last cheers.
I would play my readers like my violin
maybe with a few screeching tones
that would find their match within
feelings going deep to bones.
But I can't put myself in a mood
where spirit is broken and in pain
with heart's memories all screwed
and my hopes gone down the drain.
That jester in me wouldn't forgive
such trip into despair and gloom
to fake a sadness and to grieve
over fate of love and its doom.
But many more would come to read
as they prefer gloom and tears' taste
for that is what people seem to need
thriving on any form of heart's waste.
