If March Brings Spring — My Response to Mr. Bill's Challenge

Misbah loves writing poetry. She says poetry is what makes her heart feels warm and light.

The Dark Spring

The Dark Spring

I have written this poem in response to Mr. Bill's challenge; it's not like that I think it's my finest piece ever, but I believe it's different from the ones I've previously published here on HP.

They say that March brings in spring and causes the flowers to bloom, but can it also ring in the season of doom? For me, the month of March has frequently brought tears and gloomy moments.

March of this year and 2012 were the most difficult months of my life. I recall March of 2010, when I was just 18 years old, bringing me some beautiful spring colors. Back then, life was very different. My grandma, grandfather, brother, friends, and classmates were all around me. After 2010 March looks more like autumn to me. Many beautiful leaves from my garden have fallen.

Many beautiful flowers in my garden have changed color. Life has shown me the darkest shades of each color than I could have ever imagined. I like the colors and fragrances of spring, but March always gives me shivers.

So, here's a short poem for you to read and enjoy.

If March Brings Spring

If March is the season of spring
If spring is the season of bloom,
Then for me, why so glum?
Why did the flower petals in my life's garden drop?

If spring is a season of bright colors,
Why am I seeing yellow, brown, and rust all around
If spring brings joy everywhere around.
Why does it bring me the blues? Do you have any clues?

Why is the world turned upside down for me?
Why spring is so dull for me
Why did it cause the leaves to slip?
Why does it bring the color of autumn and falling leaves crisp?

Nostalgia in reverse, the longing for yet another strange land, grew especially strong in spring.

— Vladimir Nabokov, Mary

If March is the season of spring
Why does it bring me blues every time?
Why do my flowers die in spring instead of blooming?
Is there any answer you can find?

Is it that spring is blind to my delight?
As far as I recall, all of the dark days of my life
They are all dated in March.
Is there anyone who can help me find,
Why for me, March is so dark?

If people did not love one another, I really don't see what use there would be in having any spring.
