I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.
If I Was Born White
If I was born white I wonder how different life would be?
Could I massacre a church and then claim adhd.
If I was born white, how well in life would I rank?
Would it be much easier for me to get a mortgage at the bank?
Could I walk my dog in peace without someone calling the police?
Could I be able to barbecue my pork chops in peace?
I know I would be able to sell lemonade without being crucified
And cops wouldn’t stop my car for no reason and make up lies
If I was born white I could do ridiculous things and serve less jail time
My credit would be great and shopping on amazon would be prime.
If I was born white I could supervise black people who were smarter than me?
My color could make me skip the A B C’s
If I was born white I would start fights with other races and then be the victim
If I was white I would laugh and say there is no such thing as racism.
If I was white my forefather’s children wouldn’t be crocodile bait
If I was born white?
Just a dream I had
But I wake up to reality and then life makes me mad.

If you were born white...we might have a few smarter white men.
You would influence the rest with your witty, yet loving humor.
But alas...you are who you are supposed to be.
We all have purpose...you must fulfill the shoes you were given.
I think you will be just fine with the color you were given.
Believe me...sometimes white people get upset too.

My wife insists she is yellow. She is a white white person but she is very Asian. I am brownish. My son is in between. If someone is old and fat, we do not notice their color, just that they are old and fat. No reference to me ;-)
Here is a fun one. I think I knew you for a year or so, before I realized you had a different hue than my eldest daughter.

Clive, claim your power.
Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on March 15, 2020:
I am sorry you have had bad experiences and life should not be that way. If you were born white you may not have your very creative side that shows in your writing. You write serious and humorous articles and poetry. You are probably exactly how God intended. God bless you Clive. I like you just as you are.

Clive.....If you were born white....you wouldn't be YOU & everyone likes you just the way you are! I clearly see what you're getting at in this (sort of) tongue-in-cheek poetry & I can understand why you feel as you do.
However, you seem to made of the good stuff that would raise you far above such anger at any white man's racist ignorance of the past or those who are yet to be enlightened.
And I think you should keep this in mind,my friend....If you were white, you'd have to spend hours in the damaging sun to get that healthy glow......and we all know white sun-worshippers get all wrinkly and wither away by the time they're .30 !!!
You're a stud muffin......Just the way you are!! Pale Paula

Clive, why in the world would you want to be born white? You have the bronze color that we white people must pay for, plus, you're as cute as a little poodle puppy. Not a white poodle, a little black one of course! My Mama always told me to be proud of who I am, so my Grandmother on my father's side was one half Indian, so that makes me proud to have Indian blood. While we're talking kinfolks, we white people spend good dollars to have curls put in our hair, think about that when you're having a bad day. Cheers my friend.
