If Ever I Was A Man

If ever I was a man
You are always a woman
If you doubt your beauty
Believe the hands upon you
Caressing what is my life’s joy
Love that gave poor aim direction
Living each day without contact
But isolation is not purpose
Your thoughts my forest
Your kisses my glory
Love is your crown
Placed by God

I worship no man
No friend or enemy
But love is my pandemic
It has consumed my world
Your choice to marry me a gift
My eternal light in an unkind world
A candle you placed close to me
Drawing me to your entire life
The years my heart craves
Every smile every tear
Wishing I was there
And now I am
