The End of a Rainbow
There is something extra in the ordinary of every single day...we just have to look for it.
The Dream: A Children's Storybook
I wrote this poem many years ago when my son was still a small child. To me, the verse is full of wonder and awe. It is also rich in possibility.
My dream is to someday find an illustrator for this poem, so I can put it all together in a small book. I'd make enough copies to give to all my kids and their kids, in hopes that someday each copy could and would pass down to another young generation.
That all coming to pass would be for me very much like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
The End of a Rainbow
I'd like to find the end of a rainbow
There's a leprechaun there I'm told
I'd ask him for a tiny peek
At his shiny pot of gold
I'd like to fly way up to the moon
Higher by lots than a flying trapeze
I'd like to see it
And feel it
And touch it
Just once
To know
If it's really made of cheese
I'd like to follow the sun for a day
All the way for a day
From Santa Fe
To Hawaii and Wake
And Japan and Guam
From the Phillippines and over
To Vietnam
From India and Arabia
To the Horn of Africa
And the Great China Wall
From Russia to Europe
Then Montreal
From north Minnesota
Down through the Dakotas
And back all the way
To Santa Fe
But just for a day
And on the way
I'd like to find the end of a rainbow

Bill - Happy Sunday, my friend. You did not see it because we hide it when out-of-towners approach. Let me know when you pass through next and I can arrange a personal tour. As you probably know, Moscow is kind of a scale model of Portland.

I didn't know the end of the rainbow was in Moscow, Idaho???? How could I have not known that? I've driven through there often and never saw it. Sigh!
I hope this finds you well! Have a superb Sunday!

Thanks, John. I appreciate that. It was written many years ago for my then-very-young son. I really enjoyed putting it together, too, with pics from various places we lived.

What a wonderful trip around the world searching for the end of the rainbow. An enjoyable poem.
