Icarus, the Mortal

Author:

Hyn Edwit is a university student who made this poem that is centered around his deepest regret back in high school.

Crafted by the tears of a fire

My head feels lighter

Falling from the sky

And as my vision blurried, I wonder

How high, I ponder

Did I really try

To be worthy for so much more

So much more than what I had before

I hope I had known what a big mess I made

before I tried to hold the clouds and rolled it in,

in the palm of my hand

Still, I wished to soar along with the breeze

so bare but warm

and reach for the heavens again

My whole reign was never bright

I was blinded throughout the night

I hope I had something to dream of back then

before I grew up into this kind of girl

Still, I wished to soar along with the breeze

so bare but warm

and reach for the heavens again

I dared to fly accross the sky, my wings were burning bright

I dared to fly across the sky, my wings were buried alive

And as I crouch on the ground, I wonder

How long I'd cower

From the gaze of the sun
