Magenta Autumn

Eyes filled with tears; Heart flowing with longing,

I saw that many seasons of dawn and hope

Came, only to disappear like darkened clouds,

Hovering over distant horizons.

Many summers past; then the magenta autumn came,

Blanketing the dusk with its rose-coloured petals.

You appeared with a lushness, smiling on the edge of sunset.

The delicate, silent calligraphy of your fragrant fingers,

Lingering slowly up and down my burning lips,

Transmitting a thrilling energy, which stunned the Heart.

Drunk in a serene conversation of Love divine,

My core whispered softly, a tender call of Freedom.

Out of this vibrant river of perennial joy,

I flowed into Your Ocean and we became One.

-Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 30th September, 2017.

My Rose on the Wings of Light

Ode to Beauty I: A free verse Sonnet-Ode

I have long since been searching for my Queen.

Ever illusive, She rides upon the wind,

Whispers in the sunflowers and daffodils;

Awakes in the hue of rainbows;

Veils Herself, even in the valley of despair.

Yet She must not be rushed, and

Neither is She easily seen.

And when finally She reveals Herself,

To the yearning chords of the Spirit,

Let your conversations be sweetly silent.

For Beauty is a rose on the wings of Light;

A flame glowing in the Hearts of Lovers

Transmitting Its sacred music,

In the inner Citadel of the Soul.

-Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 30th October, 2017.

How much of beauty do you see?

      Welcome Brother Ram and thank you.

      I like how you look at free verse.

      For the mystic it flows all right, igniting the fire within the soul. It is also vibrant, flowing... like a river. Hari Om!

      It was a pleasure indeed viewing your lexical paintings!

      As I see it, free verse is like a painting, a caressing mild brush-stroke here, an assertive dab of deeper shade there; when all put together, transforming into a beautiful reflection of a person's perception.

      Metered verse on the other hand, is more like a lively tune, sometimes with extravagant embellishments to conform to meter, which perhaps bestows it with its distinctness.

      While I enjoy reading both, I have never been able to come to terms with writing free verse. Perhaps it has to do with a combination of familiarity and some inherent (mis)trait.

      Hi my Sweet.

      I got confused. I thought that you had already commented on this poem but I realised now it's not a dedicated one.

      I read tonight (last night) 00:51 hrs now. Some people were truly touched with the one about poetic language. I got there late and read only one. Good night, my Dear.
