I Remember the Times

Nithya Venkat enjoys writing about nature and different aspects of life in the form of poetic verses.

Remember the Time

Remember the Time

It is tough to lose someone near and dear, life has sharp twists and turns, and it is difficult to find your balance in all the turmoil.

Time never heals, but all the cherished memories can be relived again and again.

Remember the time

When time stood still

Each breath I took

Seemed uphill

Remember the time

When the wind was low

The sun too hot

The pace too slow

Remember the time

When the chill winds blew

Froze my heart

And tried to thwart it too

Remember the time

When all was dark

Boulders crushed my soul

Speared my heart

Remember the time

When you were near

To hold my hand

And wipe my tears

Remember the time

When you hugged me tight

Reassured me

Told me, everything will be alright

Remember the time

When I felt I was through

My chances to win

Were very few

Through all those times

I knew you were there

I could pull through

Life was fair

Now

Time stands still

You have gone

Living with the stars

And I have to go on

After all

I know

Fate is cruel

Life is unfair

Now

I am all alone

Time stands still

My heart is pierced

By fate’s sharp quill

Remember the time

I'm losing my dear sister to Dementia so your beautiful poem resonates deeply with me. The title is inviting and the subject matter is one that most everyone relates to. I lost my son to cancer in 2006 and I still grieve for him. I'm not even sure how I've managed to survive without him.

Thank you, dear friend, and blessings to you.
