I am fed up of holding tears,
I am fed up of building castles in the air,
I am fed up of lying to myself,
I am fed up, I just want to sleep.
I am exhausted trying to give my best,
I am exhausted trying to pass the test,
I am exhausted trying to be "me",
I am exhausted, I just want to sleep.
I am weary holding a fake smile,
I am weary walking alone miles to miles,
I am weary begging for love and appreciation,
I am weary, I just want to sleep.
I am distressed acting strong,
I am distressed proving that I am not wrong,
I am distressed building up "their" dreams,
I am distressed, I just want to sleep.
I am tired of explaining myself to others,
I am tired of hearing "you are a loser",
I am tired of being expelled from everything,
I am tired, Please I just want to sleep.

I sense a real cry for help in this poem filled with a longing for the person to be able to forget all his troubles and drift away. I often see this train of thought in the people I treat who have severe depression. Your poem expressed the hopelessness the person is feeling.

yes. it is indeed an effective one.
John Hansen from Queensland Australia on September 08, 2019:
A well-written poem, Sanchaita. Sleep does let us forget all our troubles for a while but unfortunately is only a short term solution.
