My Aging Years With Johnny Depp. Funny Poem

I went out on a limb to write this humorous poem: My aging years with my favorite actor, Johnny Depp. My apologies, Johnny.

Johnny Depp, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. April, 2011

Nice To Meet You Mr. Depp

I first met Johnny Depp through the movie, " Edward Scissorhands " and instantly found myself ignited by his great talent. Soon after seeing this movie, I saw him again in the movie " Benny and Joon" which was shown on television. The movie " Chocolat" was next, followed by " Secret Window ", Pirates of the Caribbean", "Don Juan De Marco" and one of my favorites, " What's Eating Gilbert Grape ".

More movies followed and I found myself falling in love with this multi-talented actor. But it was his television appearances and interviews, especially, The Actors Studio, that left me with such a huge respect for him on a personal level. His humility and wonderful sense of humor touched me so.

Thank you, Mr. Depp...for you are the inspiration and motivation for my poem.

Oh, Johnny

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

And I was 21

He fed me grapes and made me laugh

My heart said “He’s the one”

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

And I was 32

What makes this man exciting?

I haven’t got a clue

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

And I was 45

How is it I'm so lucky

He’s the sexiest man alive

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

And I am 53

I hear him snoring through the night

Its irritating me

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

Now I am 64

If he doesn’t stop that snoring

He’ll end up on the floor

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

And I am 77

Dear Johnny what has happened

To our little slice of heaven ?

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Depp

Dear God, I’m 89

I lay here with my memories

That once were so divine

I dreamt I slept with Johnny Who?

Today I’m 99

I think he was a pirate

In another place and time

Thanks for all the memories

I 've loved you to the end

And now it's time to say to you

Farewell, my dream, my friend.

My Favorite Movie With Johnny Depp and Leonard Di Caprio

Thanks, Nicolas Cage, For Bringing Us Johnny Depp

John Christopher Depp II, was born June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky. He would become one of the most famous screen actors of his time. Johnny, not only excels as an actor, he also plays guitar and is quite the musician.

His acting career began with televisions' "21 Jump Street" (1984 - 1993) and he soon became a teen idol. Depp fell into acting when his wife introduced him to her ex-boyfriend, actor Nicolas Cage. Cage, saw that Johnny was signed by an agent and after a few small parts as an extra in movies, he landed his first big movie, "Nightmare on Elm Street" in 1984.

Johnny Depp continually challenges himself to portray roles that are larger-than-life.

Aging Isn't So Bad

Humor is our best friend during the aging process. My parents had an amazing sense of humor combined with a positive attitude. Even when my father had his leg amputated during a bout with gangrene in his foot, he found humor. Though his doctor's warned him, because of his advanced age, he most likely would not walk again, he used humor to press on, practiced daily, and proved the doctors wrong.

My poem about aging and Johnny Depp is not intended to make fun of Johnny - it's about how aging can change our perspective. It's all in fun.

Patty Inglish ~ Thank you for being here, finding my poem entertaining, sharing it and rating an up and awesome. This is a gift to me.

I must see "The Mad Hatter" and I'm still chuckling out loud.

Thanks for letting me know about these 3 new films coming up. I'm in heaven :)

Happy Holidays Patty !

Patty Inglish MS from USA and Asgardia, the First Space Nation on December 22, 2012:

This poem is grandly entertaining and I'm sharing it as well as marking it Up and Awesome. Depp's favorite role for me is the Mad Hatter, but I don't suppose waking up to that persona in bed is very comfortable - more like a daily hallucination? However, his Banabas Collins is fine anywhere, as is his Tonto. In future, he's to be in films about Paul Revere and Don Quixote and a nw Thin Man - so many interesting characters...

Debby Bruck on December 22, 2012:

Dear Audrey - You drew me in from the word go and with each decade I wanted to know how the dream would play out. Dementia. Love and blessings, Debby

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on December 22, 2012:

Hi Mary - Love your comments. I'm still chuckling:) And yes, it's definitely time for another movie with Mr. Depp. Thanks for the generous votes Mary.

Hi Audrey - I'm glad to see you here. It's so nice of you to read this. Your own poetry is in a class that is unreachable for me. It is also so inspiring to me - I will continue to keep trying.

Merry Christmas my dear friend!

Attikos - Really? Oh no! Oh well, we all have our faults:)

Attikos from East Cackalacky on December 22, 2012:

I understand he bathes only once a year or so and rarely brushes his teeth. Sleeping with him might be a ... uhm ... richer experience than you bargained for.

Audrey Howitt from California on December 22, 2012:

Aww-very cute Audrey!!

Mary Hyatt from Florida on December 22, 2012:

I love Johnny Depp too. I'm old enough to be his Grandmother; wonder if he would like a Grandma. I'd make him cookies and play piano for him. I have followed his career like you have. It's time for him to have a new movie, don't you think?

This is great. I voted it UP, and will share.

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on December 22, 2012:

Tee- hee - That was the best dream I ever had:) I fall asleep every night just hoping for a RE-PEAT!

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on December 10, 2012:

Dear Ghaelach - My friend. I will continue to dream of Johnny even though he may be dressed in overalls and farming with his love:)

Thank you for your comments which I very much enjoyed reading. Feel free to go ahead and share this poem with anyone you like. I am honored. My best to you.

Cassy Lu1981 - So glad you liked this Cassy. Thanks for the great votes!

Ghaelach on December 10, 2012:

Morning Audrey.

I don't know what I was doing all those 15 months ago first published this wonderful humorous hub.

JD is one of the great multi-talented actors of our time, and I am privileged to have seen most of his work.

The times you slept with JD must have been a Shangri-La for you, at least until you where..........shall we say a lady of an acquired age and then he started snoring. But you hung on in there with him.

A wonderful hub and if it is allowed I'd love to share it with my friends in cyber-space.

Take care and have a great week.

LOL Ghaelach

PS: I'm afraid you've lost him again. He and his new love are turning into farmers. They have just bought a ranch

Audrey Hunt (author) from Idyllwild Ca. on December 04, 2012:

Hi Janine ~ Oh dear - do I have to share Johnny with you too? I'm already having trouble with Linda (sunshine625) in that department:) I suppose there's enough of him to go around. Appreciate the great votes and sharing!

Sunshine625 - Uh-oh. Got caught with my "Linda"comment to Janine :) Yummy does it!

Nell darling:) Now that's just what I like to hear. I'm delighted that you enjoyed my little poem!

Vincent - Oh yes...Rachel was something else in her day and still looks amazing. Thanks for the tweet and vote up and sweet dreams:)

storytellersus - So very grateful for your critic on this. I changed the line in question. Does it work better now? And I'm thinking of either changing or deleting the 2nd video. Maybe a short clip from Gilbert Grape instead. Yes, the more I think about it, the more I like that idea. Plus, its one of my favorite videos.

You daughter has great taste in actors. DiCapprio is very talented (and cute).

Thank you for your kind and welcomed condolences. Some days are good - others are incredibly hard.

I am blessed to have found you here on hub pages.

Gilbert Grape

sonia05 - Thanks so much for your comments. And who knows? Maybe one day Johnny will come across this poem and see what his response is. That would be awesome!

Of what was do divine... type-o?

I love the poem and I love the concept and well, I laughed at its sweetness!

My youngest daughter is in love with Leonardo diCaprio and so last summer we watched Gilbert Grape. It was so touching and brilliant, I could see it over and over again. I love the first interview video you provided above, btw. I am listening to it now...

I know this hub is not about your son, but I have to give you my sincere condolences. Your bio touched me deeply.

Hugs to your shiatsu!

How could you have dreamt you slept with Johnny Depp when I dreamt that I slept with him??? We can't both sleep with him at the same time. Anyhow, Nicolas Cage is my boyfriend right now. Or was that my sweet, beautiful George Clooney? Oh well, they are all my boyfriends, so I'll share Johnny Depp with you. (:

Hurray number 9!!

Audrey, you never fail to make me laugh, and this time is no exception! Johnny is very yummy, I'm thinking maybe you are attracted to the accent, as well, of course to the mysterious dark pirate character. He was indeed great in Edward Scissorhands, too. Great poem!!!
