I Don't Always

I don’t always say the right things
I’m not a smooth pond without ripples
The water line rises where I’ve been
Leaving behind what rose up then

I don’t want to cry
It’s not for me anymore
All that’s left is for you

I don’t always hear things right
I’m not a canyon born to echo sounds
What you said rose up inside of you
Telling me the pain I know is true

I don’t want to cry
It’s not for me anymore
All that’s left is for you

I don’t always see things as I should
I’m not a mirror of truth stronger than me
I want to tell you I’m sorry for being mean
The only thing I saw was my own dream

I don’t want to cry
It’s not for me anymore
All that’s left is for you
