I Cheated and She Loved It

I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.

Cheater

Cheater

My fiancee, my forever half

Life has taught us it’s viciousness throughout our past

We have felt hunger, deep hunger, and we have felt pain, even deeper pain

But throughout our anguish we have risen again and again

But what is this new thing that has come over our hearts?

What is this evil that has come to pull us apart?

But my destiny is paved and I have surrendered to my faith

She held my hands tightly and said, "you will not go through that gate."

The illness swept over my body and the only thing left was to hug death

But her sounds in my ear were that of a beautiful life as I lay in my death bed

No reaper, no not today, I have love by my side, I started to pray

Then death suddenly disappeared, I was amazed and in disbelief

As she kissed me gently and said, “I love you, for even death you have cheated.”
