I Adore Summer

Umesh is a freelance writer contributing his creative writings on varied subjects in various knowledge and educational sites in internet.

Preface

Life goes ahead through different seasons every year but people have affinities with different seasons in their own ways and one may like a particular season more than the other one. I have tried to depict my own liking for the summer in this poem.

Vote

The seasons are swinging,

Here cometh the summer.

The trembling sounds are,

Now changing into murmur.

The winter was horrid,

Made me a swollen ball.

Like a body of flesh,

And layers of overall.

I prefer summer,

Time to come out.

I like summer,

Cheers to bring out.

Every year my ordeal,

Waiting through winters.

Every year the confinment,

In those frigid shelters.

I am happy now,

As the summer is quite long.

And I am walking ahead,

In meadows with my song.

Endnote

Everyone has a particular liking of seasons and it is also related to happiness obtained in that situation. The essence of life is to get happiness from your liking and interest.

Mohan, thanks for your nice comment. I was in Chennai for a few years dwelling in Choolaimedu near Nungabakkam area. I understand that only rainy or winter season is the right time there.

Mohan Babu from Chennai, India on June 27, 2020:

A nice poem. My favorite one is the rainy season. We don't have the typical summer, autumn, winter and spring seasons in Chennai. All we have are hot summer, wet summer, and mild summer.

Rinita, thanks a lot for your valuable comment.

Rinita Sen on April 30, 2020:

Beautiful poem. I love summer as well, though spring is my favorite. Your flowing words bring out the essence of the hot season and the underlying warmth very well.

I'd be happy for now if this weather would just stay in the spring temps.

It keeps dioping from 70's to 30's.

We had frost the other morning.

Nice write.

Thanks for sharing

DreamerMeg from Northern Ireland on April 11, 2020:

Nice poem. I have always liked the summer but as I have grown older, I have come to like all the seasons. After all, why waste three quarters of your life waiting for the one season, when one year it may not be a good season that year.

Margaret Pan from Athens on April 11, 2020:

Great work!

FlourishAnyway from USA on April 11, 2020:

I liked your description of overdressing during winter. Summer used to be my favorite season but it’s warmth is too much for my medical condition. I prefer spring and autumn.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 11, 2020:

It's interesting to see the different opinions of the seasons, depending where you live. Britain has such a mild, varied climate that we can see all the seasons in one day!

Liz Westwood from UK on April 11, 2020:

You express your preference for summer well in this poem.

Umesh Chandra Bhatt (author) from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on April 11, 2020:

Lorna, your comments always encourage me. Highly appreciate. Thanks a lot.

Umesh Chandra Bhatt (author) from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on April 11, 2020:

Uttam, autumn is inevitable. It is dry, dull and brown but it the reality of life and is a symbol of vicissitudes in our life. So kind of you and God bless you. Keep in touch.

Lorna Lamon on April 11, 2020:

Your love of summer shines through in this lovely poem Umesh. Personally I think all the seasons have something unique and special to enjoy, however, autumn and spring are my two favourite seasons. Autumn an ending and Spring the beginning. An enjoyable read.

Umesh Chandra Bhatt (author) from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on April 11, 2020:

Eric, I am much impressed with your comment. You have brought the practical aspects. Right now you are having a low temperature there. Here in India it is 90 - 92 degree F. But I am comfortable. May be habitual. Anyway, thanks for visiting and taking a note of my small poem. Highly appreciate.

Umesh Chandra Bhatt (author) from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on April 11, 2020:

I know many of us would like spring only. That's why I put that poll also. Anyway, I have some fancy for summer. Thanks a lot.

Umesh Chandra Bhatt (author) from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, India on April 11, 2020:

Ann, I could write a poem on all seasons also consisting as elements of a group. I am getting the idea now from your comment. Anyway, summer is my favourite since I was a child. Thanks for your lovely feelings about the various seasons. Also thanks a lot for sparing your valuable time. Adoring your feelings, highly appreciate.

Uttamkumar567 from India on April 11, 2020:

May i show my greediness toward autumn of the life sir?

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on April 11, 2020:

I am with Ann, although some would not notice our coastal desert seasons much. We have summer in October a whole lot. I can plant a garden in February and my roses take off in March. However it is just now 44 degrees F. Go Figure.

Jamie Lee Hamann from Reno NV on April 11, 2020:

I love Spring and Autumn. Thank you for your poem. Jamie

Ann Carr from SW England on April 11, 2020:

I love to enjoy Spring with all its renewal and new warmth, heralding Summer with its bright colours. Autumn has beautiful colours when the leaves are russet and Winter has its benefits on a crisp, bright, snowy day. I like to have the change of seasons, as each has its good points, however, Spring remains my favourite!

You cover lots of aspects of Summer here.
