From each hibiscus

Hummingbirds dart, glistening

Like jewels in sun

Lovely! Write more! See Linda Crampton's Hub. She gives an excellent overview of the Haiku and is broad-minded enough. I liked her piece!

Thank you for all the wonderful and heartfelt comments! They touch me deeply.

That was actually an English assignment in highschool that I remembered in my head.

I was at Newport Harbor Highschool in Newport Beach California.

A beautiful piece! I'm traditional, like you, although I see many now in my poetic travels, especially here in the West, who are doing 'free-style.' I feel it reflects the nature of the poet and how she/she feels that the piece can be more impactful. Lovely job!

W0W !!! Terrific haiku...the words are visually intimate, lending a portrait to nature's beauty...I read your haiku out loud and was struck by the simplicity and natural flow of the third line which brought together the first and second lines...Thank you
