Hot Chocolate and a Bagel

Cheryl is a poet, freelance writer, author, and former newspaper columnist, with degrees in Psychology and Biblical Studies.

Every morning I’m used to drinking hot coffee

Its the best way to get the morning blues off me

Today my coffee can was empty, oh boy

How will I obtain my morning dose of joy

Distressed discouraged then I what do I see

The answer to my prayers, it’s a plan B

Instead of the usual breakfast on my table

I'm drinking hot chocolate and eating a bagel

Delicious soothing a nice change for the morning meal

Not my first choice but it’s gaining appeal

I have been dying to find a place that makes homemade hot chocolate...not a powder mix.

I was unable to have caffeine for 34 yrs. It has been another 2 yrs. and still no hot chocolate.

Enjoyed your poem.

You may post poetry in a new group i created called Sparklecity Poetry Group.

Also let me know if I can post some of your poetry on a page called Poets with a voice.

Thank you.

Cute poem Cheryl. It wouldn’t be my first choice in the morning either but quite a nice substitute.

Cheryl, Plan B seems like it was a great choice. I don't drink coffee. Therefore, your plan B would have been my Plan A.

Your poem made me laugh Cheryl and I certainly like your plan B, which looks so appealing. Excellent.
