Hope—Word prompt challenge by Brenda

This poem is in response to Brenda’s weekly word prompts challenge.
Brenda is a dear friend and a fellow writer. She is a talented poet, and you can find her creative work on HubPages and various other online writing platforms.
I agree with her, when she says that word prompts encourage creativity.
Many writers are publishing excellent creative work, in response to her weekly challenge.

I do believe that Hope, keeps us going. I have experienced it throughout my life.

We should hold on to Hope, because it makes us believe in ourselves. That you are strong, capable, and able to meet the challenges of life.

I hope you like my response, Brenda.

Hope Keeps Me Going—Poem

Another day of suffering,
And, I survived—
Because, I had ‘hope’—

The time was tough,
The path was rough,

But, I believed in me,
Better days will be, will be,
Because, I had ‘Hope’—

Sadness and failure,
Did not let me deter,

Another dawn, another possibility,
Reassured me of my ability,
Because, I had hope—

I refused to fail,
I kept trying like a snail,
Because, I had ‘Hope’—

The clouds have silver lining for a reason.

The clouds have silver lining for a reason.

Beautiful poem! Hope helps us believe and keeps us going on in life.

Audrey Hunt from Idyllwild Ca. on March 30, 2021:

Hope penetrates barriers. Hope helps to make the present moment less difficult to bear. Cristopher Reeve had such courage fed by the love of his marvelous wife. You have weaved just the right words to form this lovely poem.

manatita44 from london on March 30, 2021:

I do like your attempt, because the subject is a most powerful and beautiful one. Christopher Reeves fought hard and hard hope. he eventually succumbed to the problem but perhaps his hopes kept him going longer.

Nell Rose from England on March 30, 2021:

Beautiful poem and Hope is such a wonderful word. Right at the bottom of pandora's box, they said there was hope. And its something we all need these days.

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on March 30, 2021:

ChitrangadaSharan Hope is what people need in this life. Your poem is full of hope and without hope living won't e meaningful, I like the poem

Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on March 30, 2021:

Hope is indeed critical in our lives. Without it, I don't know what my life will be.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on March 30, 2021:

You did a beautiful job with this poem from Brenda's challenge about the word hope. I liked your reference in moving like a snail. Not all things happen by leaps and bounds. Sometimes perseverance and continued moving towards a goal count more.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on March 30, 2021:

To Ms Dora....

I want to wish you an early birthday wish.

"Happy Birthday! May you Easter Sunday bring you happiness & a special blessing!"

I read your last article & your section on Hope is absolutely terrific.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on March 30, 2021:

Chitrangada,

Your words have painted a beautiful reminder for us all.

When you have Hope...nothing can stop you.

I love the way Bill says it,

"It is such a simple little word. Four letters, that is all, but so much meaning packed into those four letters"

Hope is the one thing that keeps us going. Without hope...I honestly don't know where we would be.

The quote by Christopher Reeves is spot on!

"Once you choose hope, anything is possible. "

Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem.

I will post a link in the article.

Have a great day!

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on March 30, 2021:

I like it. My last article has a section on hope, and your poetry is like affirmation to my thoughts. The snail is a perfect illustration. Hope keeps it going. Excellent!

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on March 30, 2021:

Hope truly keeps us alive. Hope is a blessing

An amazing and intriguing poem, Chitrangada. I hope all poets continue to write about hope so that others start believing in it completely. I like especially the quote by Laini Taylor among all quotes. Good job! I really appreciate it.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on March 30, 2021:

It is such a simple little word. Four letters, that is all, but so much meaning packed into those four letters. Hope keeps many of us alive, and you captured that perfectly in this beautiful poem.

Chitrangada, this is an inspirational poem. An excellent response to Brenda’s “hope” challenge. Good job.
