Heavy Rains and High Winds

Updated on November 19, 2017

Washing Our Troubles Away

All I can hear

Is the loud noises

My vision is impaired

Even though I can not see clearly

I am not scared

My heart races with unknown expectations

I tune in instead of tuning out

The fierce winds rattle against the window pane glass

Planting my feet firmly on the floor

I listen to the constant howl

In the darkness

Restless and uneasy

I calm my nerves by taking deep breaths

As the early morning light breaks

Now I can see clouds racing across the sky

Only to bring about a world of change

I welcome this new moment

With open arms

Manatita44 The power of nature can be fierce. Then later it can also be the most beautiful and pleasant. Enjoying both can be the best and the worst of both worlds. Isn't it strange how people are the same way. We have the really good people who help so many others and then we have people who have every intention just to make life miserable for everyone they meet. Thank you so much for reading and appreciating. Have a very good night.

Linda Crampton I am amazed at how loud the booms of thunder can be. The fact that rain can cover every inch of an area for miles. How dark and fierce the sky can look. Then in seconds how lightning can light up an area instantly. Thank you so much for reading and sharing. Have a wonderful day.

I often find storms exciting, as long as they aren't likely to be dangerous. I love the description in your poem.

billybuc What you say is true. I never thought of it like that. I guess you guys are old pros when it comes to wild storms. I only remember Hurricane Bob 1991 and tornado warnings and one tornado in 2015. We got the Blizzard of 1978, April Fools Blizzard 1997, Blizzard 2005, 2006, winter storm Nemo 2013. Do you remember how many storms you have seen during your lifetime. It scares me to think how dangerous they can be. Thank you for reading and sharing. Wishing you and your family a wonderful and joyful Thanksgiving.

Heard about the storms and I hope all is well. Know what's weird? The national news always mentions storms on the east coast, but rarely gives mention to those on our left coast. We regularly get storms with high winds and torrential rains, but it's like they don't count with the national television news guys.

Well, whatever, I do want to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!
