Heaven Can Wait

heaven-can-wait

I was inspired to write this poem after watching the video below by a friend Sam Magee who wrote a song for suicide awareness.

It was the title heaven can wait that touched a chord with me as I reflected on my own suicidal thoughts.

Heaven Can Wait

You think no one will understand

the feelings that you can’t withstand.

Forget that end you contemplate.

Heaven can wait.

Just pick up that telephone

You don’t have to suffer on your own.

Reach out and help reduce that weight.

heaven can wait.

When you let others get involved

every problem can be solved.

Then you know it’s not too late.

Heaven can wait.

I didn’t have to feel that way

I'm learning to love more every day.

My life I now can celebrate.

Heaven can wait.

Thanks for reading Brenda. Yes reaching out can be hard to do when you are in a dark place.

Such a great reminder Charlie to take a moment to reach out for someone.

I must admit I am there for others, but I seldom reach out to others.

Thanks for sharing. I loved the song also.

Simple but powerful words. Nicely written. It touches a chord with people who can relate. Good job.
