Heartless - A Poem
they tell me to follow my heart
not my head
and it will lead me to
where I need to be
but if I follow my heart
I know where I‘ll end up
back in your arms
so I place my heart at your doorstep
you can keep it now
and I’ll follow the echo
that calls from the darkness
the whisper that begs to be heard
he’s not what I want
but with no heart to ache over you
I can finally be at peace
I can give myself to the one
who whispers my name
and holds me close
even though I close my eyes
and picture you there

I can feel this one.
It is too hard to move on when your heart still cares.
I shared this one here.

This one is good.
To give up your heart so you can truly be with another.
I know the heart has it's own mind leading one down a joyful but often painful existence.
Nice write.

A beautifully expressive poem Elise. I love the ideas behind leaving your heart on his doorstep. Excellent.
