Alpha and Omega; The Great I Am

Politics aside, there is much more to me. I am passionate about many things and those are the things which sustain me.

he-great-i-am

Alpha and Omega

Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,

My comforter, my Savior, my Father and my friend

No other gods before me, no other way will do

The written word sustains me, as my Faith sees me through,

this crazy thing called life and all which that entails

No matter that I will undoubtedly stumble, God's love never fails

My refuge through sadness, through personal struggles, through pain

To gain the riches of the world...without faith, isn't close to gain

I could search this whole world over and never find greater love

The purest unconditional love, comes from our Father above

Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,

My comforter, my Savior, my Father and my friend

The Great I Am

The Great I Am

Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,

My comforter, my Savior, my Father and my friend

Father God on high, the Great I Am, meeting lowly me, right where I stand

No other way, earthly things can't last, they quickly fade, like sinking sand

It is where I choose, to place all my trust

For all that is good and for all that is just

Imperfect me, a work in progress, no different than you

With the Lord as my Shepherd, I, like you, am just traveling through

I'm only human, I sometimes forget and I push God away

Fortunately for all of us, our Father only knows...to stay

Alpha and Omega; Father, Spirit, Son

God Almighty, THE GREAT I AM, hallelujah, the battle has already been won!

Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,

My comforter, my Savior, my Father and...my friend

Okay, I've heard the title, but haven't read that one, need to check it out.

Good luck getting the interview! Hope his people get back with your people! :)

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 18, 2019:

Oh, oops! "Same Kind of Different as Me". I've got a hub about the movie....the one about paying it forward, I think. But I only recently got a copy of the book. I was too excited because as I was posting to you, I was also thinking about asking for an interview with Ron Hall. And I did just that so we'll see!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 18, 2019:

Hi Shannon, which book? Please share! :)

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 18, 2019:

Perfect timing to see this hub come up in notifications! I just got through reading a book about a true story of God's work. Made me sad and joyful at the same time. Lot's of things to contemplate .

Thank you Tim and Amen!!

St. Augustine is one of my favorite places. You'll have to try my favorite restaurant, Harry's. It is located in the old town, facing the water. So much to do there. Enjoy your trip!

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on November 18, 2019:

Thank you, Abwilliams. Beautiful in every way in honor of the God we love. I have not vanished, friend, and I'm glad you haven't. Visiting St. Augustine in two weeks. Love your state and may God always protect and bless your family. Respect and admiration.

Good Morning Brenda,

Thank you for stopping by and for your very kind words.

I don't know how people without faith do it. How do they get through the day to day 'stuff' that we all go through?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 15, 2019:

Good Morning Shannon! Yes, 'Amazing Grace', such a special song. A classic!

'I Can Only Imagine' (I finally watched the movie) There's no telling how many people were inspired by this song, when it was being played all over and not just on Christian radio. That was such a God thing!

'I Believe' by Brooks & Dunn and 'When I Get Where I'm Going' Dolly and Brad Paisley...I could go on and on.

We need more of this type of inspirational music throughout this very secular world!

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on November 15, 2019:

Your work here tells it like it should be.

gain the riches of the world and not have faith, really isn't gain...i love this part.

Great write.

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 14, 2019:

Oh, you're welcome. Y'all were talking about goosebumps songs.....That one and I love certain versions of "Amazing Grace". "I Can Only Imagine" is another one, especially since I know the story behind the song now.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 14, 2019:

Yes, I lsaw their performance last night, very good. I was impressed with an Awards show for a change!

Thanks for sharing Shan, love this song!

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 14, 2019:

Have y'all heard the new Dolly Parton song yet? She did a duet with For King and Country- a remake of one of their songs. She sang part of it at the CMAs. I've got the press release info about the song. I asked for an interview, but haven't heard back.

Thank you Yves! I agree with you about 'How Great Thou Art', there are so many great renditions, this is one of the best. Definite goosebumps song!

Yves on November 14, 2019:

A lovely poem that speaks to what matters most, AB.... the Greatness of God! Maybe that is why my favorite hymn is "How Great Thou Art." That song stops me in my tracks every single time. It is the song that, as you say, "take me to church." Here is a powerful rendition, if you care to hear it. Not to mention, I happen to love Vince Gill even though he only plays a small part in the song.

AB, your article is to the Godless Democrats like what Holy Water is to a Vampire - I trust they’ll dare not comment.

;-)

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 14, 2019:

Thank you! :)

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 14, 2019:

No doubt about him being where he is supposed to be.

I can see why this song does that for you. Especially with this group singing. They always do such a nice job. And inspire beautiful poetry, too. ;)

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 14, 2019:

Oh my goodness, this is one of those goosebump songs for me Shannon. It takes me to church...as some say.

Good for him, he is where he is supposed to be. I am sure he would agree. +

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 14, 2019:

I can't believe I have never heard that song before. Usually, I know the songs they sing.

This is a little random, but a while back, I looked up what happened to James Bonamy and found out he is a worship leader at his church at a town here in Texas now. He just completely gave up the big time for that. I'm sure he's good at it, but I wonder how many young people know he used to be famous.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 14, 2019:

....and now, I can go about my day!

I am sure that you both understand and can relate. :)

Have a wonderful day!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on November 14, 2019:

Thank you Eric.

Thank you Shannon.

The Great I AM was in my head today, I had to slow down the busyness...be still and just write.

Shannon Henry from Texas on November 14, 2019:

I second Eric's comment. Beautifully written!

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on November 14, 2019:

Wonderfully done. I just love this idea from the time of Moses.
