The Great I Am
Alpha and Omega - Great I AM
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,
My comforter and Savior, my Father and my friend
No other gods before me, no other way will do
The written word sustains me, my Faith sees me through
My refuge through sadness, through personal battles, through pain
To gain the riches of the world and not have faith, really isn't gain
~~~
Father God on high, the Great I AM, meeting lowly me, right where I stand
No other way, earthly things can't last, they fade away like sinking sand
It is where I choose, to place my trust
For all that is good and all that is just
Imperfect me, a work in progress, not any different than you
With the Lord as my Shepherd, I‘m just traveling through
Alpha and Omega; Father, Spirit, Son
God Almighty, THE GREAT I AM, hallelujah, the battle has already been won!
Exodus 3:14 KJV
And God said unto Moses, I AM that I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
Revelation 1:8 KJV
I AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
I love this poem!
Oh, oops! "Same Kind of Different as Me". I've got a hub about the movie....the one about paying it forward, I think. But I only recently got a copy of the book. I was too excited because as I was posting to you, I was also thinking about asking for an interview with Ron Hall. And I did just that so we'll see!
Perfect timing to see this hub come up in notifications! I just got through reading a book about a true story of God's work. Made me sad and joyful at the same time. Lot's of things to contemplate .
Thank you, Abwilliams. Beautiful in every way in honor of the God we love. I have not vanished, friend, and I'm glad you haven't. Visiting St. Augustine in two weeks. Love your state and may God always protect and bless your family. Respect and admiration.
Your work here tells it like it should be.
gain the riches of the world and not have faith, really isn't gain...i love this part.
Great write.
Oh, you're welcome. Y'all were talking about goosebumps songs.....That one and I love certain versions of "Amazing Grace". "I Can Only Imagine" is another one, especially since I know the story behind the song now.
Have y'all heard the new Dolly Parton song yet? She did a duet with For King and Country- a remake of one of their songs. She sang part of it at the CMAs. I've got the press release info about the song. I asked for an interview, but haven't heard back.
A lovely poem that speaks to what matters most, AB.... the Greatness of God! Maybe that is why my favorite hymn is "How Great Thou Art." That song stops me in my tracks every single time. It is the song that, as you say, "take me to church." Here is a powerful rendition, if you care to hear it. Not to mention, I happen to love Vince Gill even though he only plays a small part in the song.
There is not and can not be a more wonderful, inspiring way, to begin our day......................Thank you, Angie, my friend. Peace & Love, Paula
AB, your article is to the Godless Democrats like what Holy Water is to a Vampire - I trust they’ll dare not comment.
;-)
No doubt about him being where he is supposed to be.
I can see why this song does that for you. Especially with this group singing. They always do such a nice job. And inspire beautiful poetry, too. ;)
I can't believe I have never heard that song before. Usually, I know the songs they sing.
This is a little random, but a while back, I looked up what happened to James Bonamy and found out he is a worship leader at his church at a town here in Texas now. He just completely gave up the big time for that. I'm sure he's good at it, but I wonder how many young people know he used to be famous.
I second Eric's comment. Beautifully written!
Wonderfully done. I just love this idea from the time of Moses.
