Happiness means many things to many people.

What is happiness? For many, happiness is mostly conditional-

“I will be happy if I get a promotion.”

“I will be happy if I pass with a distinction.”

“I will be so happy if I get that award.”

Here happiness depends on the big “If.” If that certain thing you want does not happen, happiness disappears into thin air. Happiness is when you love what you have instead of thinking about what you don’t have.

Happiness is living in the moment and enjoying life, sharing, caring, and giving. It comes from being kind and helping people.

The meaning of happiness is beautifully stated by Henry David Thoreau -“Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will evade you, but if you notice the other things around you, it will gently come and sit on your shoulder.”

Is just like the sunshine

Lighting up the forest

Chasing shadows away

Happiness

Is just like a flood of light

Streaming through the window

Unveiling views

Showcasing nature

Ethereal beauty

Of golden grass
