Some Wise Words
Nostalgia For Beginners
When we were in school,
Teachers taught us how to count.
From one to ten, then further more.
After that, we started counting
How many days left 'til it's Friday.
It was always from one point to the next.
As kids, we were counting
How many years needs to pass
Until we become teenagers, then adults.
We couldn't wait to grow up,
To do things that as kids we weren't allowed.
Hyped up for what awaits us.
Counting hours, counting days,
Counting months, counting years.
Counting money, counting friends.
We spend our whole lives counting,
Moments just passing us by.
Never truly taking in the years of our lives.
It was always a rush from one crucial point
In life to the next.
That's how nostalgia came to existance.
When we look at younger people now,
It takes us back to the time
When we were their age.
We miss those years,
Thinking "I wish I enjoyed those years a little better!"
We were in such a hurry to grow up.
We never truly enjoyed those times
That were more carefree.
We never experienced our youth properly.
Now that we finally grew up,
We saw there was nothing special to get
Hyped up about.
We just got older and more numb.
So kids, take your time,
Don't be in a hurry.
Enjoy simple things in life
That adults took for granted.
Dear parents, while this world is spinning and it set a fast pace, take the time to remind your children of this:
Don't Forget To...
Don't Rush To...
