I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.
Goodbye became the saddest word,
when around she turned
and love was walking out the door.
It seemed to her,
that love was but a dream,
a dream she had no hope,
to have and to hold.
Goodbye my love,
seemed to sound more often,
as the years drifted by.
She never knew the reason why,
somewhere deep inside,
she still held on tight,
to a love that long ago –
had said goodbye.
So she thought she would,
try to find her one true love,
for beside his memories,
all other loves faded in comparison.
a heart that began aching,
her search seemed futile,
for the fires of love no longer burned.
can be cruel,
separating true lovers,
as the world keeps spinning.
In her heart she wondered,
If he missed her too,
perhaps in his life,
had sounded too.
It was with regret,
that she had not done it sooner,
for her love had long left this world
and with memories she must remain.
One last rose she placed,
upon his resting place,
knowing that he was somewhere up above,
perhaps beaming his love upon her,
there was nothing more to say –
goodbye my love, goodbye.

This tugs at the heartstrings. Memories can be so sad.
I'm surprised there are no other comments. I'm late getting to some of your latest works but they're still on my list.
Shame we don't still have the 'share' button.
