God, Help Me

Born again Christian, learning to live the life God wants for me. Sharing my life experiences and lessons.

His love, a steady rush, abruptly crashes, my heart erupts.

His love, a steady rush, abruptly crashes, my heart erupts.

My soul is strangled

My flesh the culprit

And I’m not preaching from the pulpit

I’m just another human being

Who’s on the verge of truly seeing

Father God, come make me whole

Restore to me what the devil stole

I know I’m lacking

My bones are cracking

I’m getting older

Time won’t slow down

I need the help

That only You can give

Holy Spirit, please

In my heart, come live

(These lyrics can be read as a poem, but are meant to be rapped. So if you can, get your rap on.)

Sometimes this world can draw us in. Old habits can die hard. When we feed our flesh, but starve our souls, the flesh becomes strong and the soul, weak. We must take up our cross and nourish the soul, but sometimes that's easier said than done. Have you ever struggled with this? How did you overcome it? I'd love to hear your story in the comments below.

Hi Heather,

I appreciate and loved every word in your poem, which was just beautiful. I too, have been exactly where you were and I was most probably so much worse. I really enjoyed in particular, the last 4 lines and I'm sure others would only echo them. I hope I will remember them.

Something I heard some time ago and means a lot to me - There are two animals in our hearts and are constantly at war with each other, our human nature and our divine nature.

Wich one will win - the one you feed.

I want what those last 4 lines are saying.

Again my best Heather,

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
