The ancient woodland casts its shadows

Falling softly on winter’s fading mantle

Where you linger in the sun’s reflection

Nurturing the purity of your gentle blooms

A symbol of life from the Goddess of Spring

You awaken in May to the nightingale’s song

Carried on the air by delicate wings of love

Held in the essence of your sweet fragrance

Released from the solitude of your existence

As you carpet the forest with flowers of joy

Whispers of your legend are echoed in the mist

Where the purest of hearts shed sacred tears

That fell in silent sorrow upon hallowed ground

Covering the earth with endless seeds of hope

Regenerating our valleys with your divine grace

Your comforting presence of darkness and light

Belies the strength of your deep hidden roots

As they seek refuge amongst life’s many thorns

Creating vibrant clusters of delicate perfection

In silent tribute to the bright morning star

Meandering through the forest’s leafy glades

I feel the breath of your lingering fragrance

Like a sigh of remembrance touching my soul

Reflected in the tenderness of love’s endurance

Immortalised in the Lily of the Valley

Carried on the air by delicate wings of love

Held in the essence of your sweet fragrance

Released from the solitude of your existence

As you carpet the forest with flowers of joy
