Friends From Long Ago
Is This What You Think It Is ?
I take a story and a poem
Combine them together and call it a Stoem
Let your imagination go wild
There was a time I seen you in the flesh
Now you are only a voice over a loud speaker
Times have changed
People have changed
The person that you are and always have been
Is the same
Sweet as ever
Yes we have grown older
But also wiser
With that we have our hang ups and our baggage
It comes with age
We will find a way to sift through
Pick out the greatest times
Running together on the track team
When now we have trouble walking
A party at Norm's house
When we were free and carefree
Then you even showed me some pictures to prove it
As we scan our minds while other people travel the globe
We get to share so much in common
We both would do anything for our moms
We don't see eye to eye with other members of our family
That has to be o.k.
We have had our share of ups and downs
I always loved kids
When I got married and found out
We could have no children of our own
Sometimes we can't explain it
Things happen for a reason
You thought you would be married to the man of your dreams
It didn't quite work out
You have had health issues that made you give up your job and the career you love
After all is said and done
Every day we both get up and find something incredibly wonderful about life
We have been able to connect on many different times
Day or night
Even if only by text or a quick catch up on what's new with you
My wife likes when you call
Even though she loves me so much
She wonders if there is an off switch
I have a habbit of talking to the extreme
You also have that same gift of gab
Together we give my wife a much needed break
Seeing life through a wide eye lens
Picking out the funny and the odd
I am so glad we are such good friends
It is amazing when you talk
You relate to many things I have been thinking
A great deal of your time is helping your mother
Doing the things she has to do
From doctors appointments to daily meals
Spending time with Mary
Just because you can
Not having to work
Makes it all possible
It is funny how a sad situation can be a good thing
I injuried my left eye when I was eleven
I lost permanent vision in that eye
Now I see the world clearer than ever
Because it is never what it appears to be
I see shadows and colored blurs though one eye
Then I can see bright and shiny in the other
It is the same world
It is what we do with what we see that matters
Having a good friend is not an easy as it looks
Being a good friend is all worth it in the end
Both our lives are busy and crazy
This headache and that one
A snag here or there
One good day after ten bad ones
Life didn't turn out the way I expected
I do know I am so thrilled to live and love the people I meet
Sharing one more thought
Spending time with our cat Charlotte
While you do the same with Tom Cat
Each of us
Contributing in so many ways
Much goes unnoticed and forgotten
But not to those who live it
I am proud to say
Call me or text if you can't talk
I will return your call as soon as I can
My phone isn't the best
It is outdated and has it's moments
It slows me down to a little crawl
When I am not busy with work
When you are not in and out of your house a dozen times
We are both getting a whole list of things done
In the end I wouldn't change it for the world
Even if I could
How would I know what is best ?
A little more fun here and less stress here
It is not as easy as auto correct and one second and fixed
The outcome effect life forever
So leave it alone
Let it be
I will look for a way
You mght find it first
Together we can laugh and joke
Make a wish on the first star we see
Wishing the world
A little bit of Happiness
That everyone could feel and see
Carolanne this poem is for you

Gypsy Rose Lee I also have a fake Christmas tree but it may be small but it really is so beautiful in so many ways. My wife has ornaments she has collected over the years that fill the branches with love. We have even a few together that make it extra special. It is a lot of work but after it is up and it lights up in the room all the hard work is quickly forgotten. Wishing you not only love but peace to move forward with kindness and forgiveness. Thank you for taking the time to comment and making my writings extra special. Charlotte wishes both Sid and you a sweet night.

John Hansen Carolanne Is someone I am proud to have known over thirty years. We have lost touch once and after we reconnected we both will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again. My wife also has good friends that she keeps in touch with. It is friends like these that have something I can't put my finger on. Where many other people what I thought were friends fall through the cracks. Never to be heard from again. A friendship is made up of many things. Respect, understanding, compassion, connection, trust, giving, honesty to name just a few qualities. They are interwoven so delicately but magnificiently together. Thank you for reading and caring. I look forward to reading many of your story/poems. That you have spent long hours to write that many of your followers and I do appreciate. Have a great night.

What a lovely Stoem you have written as a special thank you to your friend Carolanne. I write a lot of Stoem’s too but just call them story/poems lol. It is wonderful to have a special friend you can talk to whenever you need and from what you describe you are fortunate to have each other. Thank you for sharing.

It is that time of year I always dread the most. First of all, of course, it is a joyous time of the birth of Jesus but a painful time with too many memories. I have put up a tiny Christmas tree just to have it as a symbol. I suppose I already told you of my greatest labor of love my second book of poems with only love poems On the Wings of Love
