Freedom Per Brenda’s 29th Prompt

I'm interested in social issues, relationships, problems of daily living, jobs, exercise, poems and fiction, plus safer living conditions.

freedom-per-brendas-29th-prompt

I think we are all grateful to Brenda for her prompts, but also her analysis after the fact. That is very time consuming, and she has been a friend to us all. I have enjoyed writing poetry and a couple of short stories as well.

Freedom means so much to most of us. I love Brenda’s own response, which was rather serious. I decided to have some fun with this prompt and I have taken a light-hearted approach.. My poems and pictures tell the story.

Acrostic Poem

Free we will be

Run for your life

Everyone must hurry

Each minute counts

Do what you must

Our feet must scurry

Minutes do count

freedom-per-brendas-29th-prompt

Golden Retrievers

Freedom is everyone’s goal

Escaping is good for our soul

The group all decided to run

Running together will be fun

A beautiful day we must be free

We will run all the way to the sea

The man does not understand

Our escape is already planned

Together we will spend time

Leaving today will be sublime

Escaping so soon is our plan

We want to outsmart the man

We really hope to escape today

The lead dog shows us the way

The pack does not want to stay

Golden retrievers go all the way

Walkin' The Dog

Pamela - dogs have it right, don’t they? They run and frolick and run and run. Then they nap, eat, make ready to run and frolick and run and run. Your poem definitely captures that spirit of freedom, the great joy it brings to them. Your words brought joy to me this morning, as well. Have a good day!

Rinita Sen on September 11, 2021:

I sooooo love the second poem. Haven't ever seen anyone writing freedom from a dog's point of view. Outsmarting the man was my favorite line. The first one is fun, too. Way to go!!

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on September 10, 2021:

Pamela

Thank you for your kind words.

I really like the picture of the doggie above your acrostic poem.

In your acrostic poem you show us how we hurry each moment, but we are free to do so.

Your poem, "Golden Retrievers " is a lighthearted one.

I love the idea of the doggies planning their escape.

They outsmart the man to have freedom and play.

I'm glad you decided to have fun with this word & not be serious...but to a doggie, this is serious...His Escape.

Love the video.

I'll post a link in the word prompt article.
