Freedom At Last

I have been writing poetry, fiction and short stories for many years and have completed a book of poems. I also enjoy comedy writing.

Buju Free

Buju Free

At last, at last freedom has come my way.

Even though those that rise against me want me in shackles I say.

They want to condemn me for what I do not know.

They would rather see me wither away and eyes plucked by the crow.

Freedom is here, get me out of this land of devils.

Back to the sound of joy, base of the earth and all the trebles.

Oh look, my people wait to greet me.

As the sound of reggae rushes through my hair, my mind welcomes my family.

At last, at last I am out of their wicked system.

Part of the machinery for youth of color to be the victim.

They tried to conquer me, but Jah was my shield

They sent out demons to take my soul, but all defeated in the battlefield.

I am not afraid, even though you had me in chains

But my mind, my mind was unconquerable, the spirit lived in my brain.

Now get behind me you unclean beast.

Let the children of the sun walk upon the land

Soulless swine, my father is I am the I Am.

Now I am free, the trinity will make me restore

And bless me, keep me and take me to that righteous place where I will see evil no more.
