Forever the Romance of the Moon

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.

midnight-blue

Looking up at the night sky,

it’s there as a beacon,

like a lantern shining down,

its warm glow,

makes nights magical

and I very well know,

that thousands of stars -

will twinkle all about.

Here is no need for artificial

or even candlelight,

it will guide you along,

as you walk in the night,

it lights up the river -

making it look like molten silver.

Bobs along upon the sea,

making a bridge of moonbeams,

it follows us along,

creating a bright path to follow,

the moon and the night clouds,

blown by night breezes,

play with light and shadow -

peaking from behind.

Clouds floating in the night sky,

love to see it in the light of day,

before it goes to bed,

as it says good morning,

to the sun -

that has risen in the sky.

Moonlit nights,

are meant for romance,

dancing under the spotlight,

just like lovers from the past,

wanting it to last.

Remembering past summer nights,

with the scent of roses upon the night breeze,

moments like these,

remain a lifetime through

and forever in my dreams, you’ll be.

For every moonlit night,

throughout my life,

there will be you and the moonlight,

the sound of your voice,

whispering words of love,

while rose petals lie beneath our feet.

Like in some magical story,

where a bit of sparkling moondust,

turns into tiny fairies,

but then the first streaks of dawn,

appear in the sky,

the moon gives a knowing wink,

it will be back soon -

that romantic moon.

Your embrace still I feel,

forever it will be moonlight and you,

every summer night,

when I remember -

forever and ever through time.

You are slowly mending from the inside out. Your poetry reflects that. You keep finding new ways to deliver your message. I am at a loss for words. Lovely.

Thank you so much, Pamela.

This is such a beautiful poem of the night and all its glories. The memories of night are a lovely thing to store away in your brain. I am wishing you better days ahead and keep writing your beautiful poetry.

Shauna, I don't think anything is going to change for the rest of my life. As long as I can keep writing it is alright. I am getting used to just going on alone and doing the best I can. Hope you have a great weekend.

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on March 08, 2019:

Rasma, I hope your cherished, vivid memories are helping you to heal from your loss. I can feel the pain in your heart.
