Forever as Time Goes By

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .

So many things,

that bring back memories,

welcomed or not –

they come out of the fog as time goes by.

Forever and ever,

dreams take me where I long to be,

just there like we used to roam,

just you and me.

Forever as time goes by,

no minutes or hours,

can take from me,

that which is locked in my heart.

Right from the very start,

with the touch of your hand,

with your lips against mine,

the feelings linger still –

as time goes by.

Can it be that the sun can rise and set,

with you no longer here,

I know it’s your star that shines the brightest,

far into the darkest night.

Even though it isn’t right,

that I should have so long to wait,

I know you’re not far from me,

music and memories,

take me to where I want to be –

forever as time goes by.

Drifting in daydreams,

forging those streams,

where I cannot hope to be,

where someday you’ll wait for me,

always smiling –

as time goes by.

The poets often write,

of things that pertain to the heart,

the sweet love refrains,

that bring back so much to me,

accompanied by photos,

that trace the history of you and me,

of all that we were to one another,

that we still are,

as I find more and more,

to ease my mind –

as time goes by.

You’re alive to me,

bound to my heart,

always so loving and dear,

in all the treasured photos,

where in my daydreams,

I return to the days that have been,

never skipping a heartbeat,

always filled with love,

knowing you are just beyond reach –

forever as time goes by.
