Lingering in the Picture
Maya Ellenson likes to improvise in zen poetry as she basks in Florida's parks and wildlife.

Lingering in the Picture
Nature sparing ink
as if it were gold
to paint subtle clouds
strewn across the sky's
blue porcelain
the shorebirds
rising swiftly from wetland
resemble the twirling flames
at this moment
everything seems to linger:
the birds and boats
drifting above the sun-flecked
St. Lucie River
including myself
happening
meandering through the wooden deck
with mangroves on both sides
in this lingering state
I have no name
nor do I need one
