Flight of the Blues

From that old shack down on Bourbon street,

Blues songs to be heard with that special beat.

Sing songs in the night, like a bird in its flight,

Making time so special, a feeling so complete.

Refrain:

Flight of the Blues, the music to soothe the soul,

Traveling down that railroad track, in days of old.

No better music played, has its own special sound,

New Orleans to Memphis, places heard all around.

Down in the swampy bayou, there, music is the word,

Chilling notes on a sax, a harmonica's song is heard.

Blues songs throughout the night, by the light of moon,

Traveling on the winds it comes, so soulful in its tune.

Refrain:

Flight of the Blues, the music to soothe the soul,

Traveling down that railroad track in days of old.

No better music played, has its own special sound,

New Orleans to Memphis, places heard all around.

Musical notes on wings of eagles, songs for all to hear,

Over the glades and gator's waters, places all so dear.

The Natives there greet the night, in songs of the Loon,

Whippoorwills all chime in, with frogs, to greet the moon.

Refrain:

Flight of the Blues, the music to soothe the soul,

Traveling down that railroad track in days of old.

No better music played, has its own special sound,

New Orleans to Memphis, places heard all around

The Magnolia blooms and dogwood, send like scents around,

The cool breeze blows up notes in Blues, as is heaven bound.

I'm heading back to my old shack, I'll be listening for that sound.

The magic shared there in the mood, in no finer place is found.

Refrain:

Flight of the Blues, the music to soothe the soul,

Traveling down that railroad track, in days of old.

No better music played, has its own special sound,

New Orleans to Memphis, places heard all around.

I love most jazz, the raw sound of saxophones and the Blues.

Great poem, whonu.
