When Darkness Falls

I am a graduate from a diploma in applied writing, and I have found that my calling is poetry.

When Darkness Falls

When darkness falls the light disappears,

you hear the bumps in the night.

And you wonder to yourself,

what could that be?

A child gets scared,

they think it’s the Boogie-man.

So they close their eyes,

pull the covers up,

and try to hide.

Because they believe in the evil of the world.

As an adult you start to wonder,

what goes bump in the night?

When the darkness falls...

Thank you so much for your feedback.

Took a lot of courage for me to put these up here :)

Interesting, the “They believe in the evil of the world” was probably my favorite part. Because as adults the monsters fade into real people. People who’ve murdered or raped. But children they think that the only evil are the monsters made up. Great work.
