First Love Never Forgotten: A Poem

Val is a life-long practically oriented student of effective emotional and attitudinal responses to the many challenges of life.

In those youthful starts

when autumn felt like spring

love was budding in our hearts

wondering whom Amor will bring.

With heart so longing to relieve

all that pent up eagerness to love

giving us a crazy new reason to live

finding other heaven from the one above.

And then first love came to invade our dream

with face and the rest so hot that it burned

so irresistible with all that magic gleam

calling for prayer for a love returned.

With joy so intense that it was hurting

we finally found some courage to say it all

those first love words that came out in blurting

with fingers crossed while the hope seemed small.

Some hearts just don't roam around

trying that second one and so many more

so some of us stayed with whom we first found

each anniversary feeling like that first date's encore.

As years are passing and we're getting older

nothing much to crave for, and nothing to miss

summers may feel shorter and winters get colder

but spring always brings memories of that first kiss.

Louise---Yes, there are memories that we cherish the most, and first love, unless painful to remember, certainly is one of them.
