Filling up The Pages of Life—Poem

Chitrangada loves to express her moods and emotions, through her poems. Most of her poems are free style and spontaneous with Nature at core

Fill up the blank pages of your life, well. So that, when you look back, you have nothing to regret.

Fill up the blank pages of your life, well. So that, when you look back, you have nothing to regret.

Fill up the blank pages of your life—Poem

Your life is a book,

Full of blank pages,

And you have to fill up,

Each significant stages.

Since the time of your birth,

Until the time, you depart,

Slowly, you fill up the pages,

To let others know of your worth.

From being in the comfort zone,

Of your dear and loved ones,

To crawling, sitting and then,

Walking on your own feet,

Take a look back, once,

Have you done it nicely?

Make sure to fill your pages,

So you don’t have any regrets.

With kindness and compassion,

With love, affection and care,

With gratitude and blessings,

With laughter and happiness,

There is still time, if some pages,

Were filled with sorrow and pain,

Bad relationships, stress and strain,

Misfortune, guilt and in vain.

You can still fill up the pages,

With hope, faith, happy moments,

Just pick up the “right ink and pen,”

So that when you look back—

You have a sense of fulfilment,

And a deep sense of satisfaction.

Life is full of immense possibilities. Make it worthwhile.

Life is full of immense possibilities. Make it worthwhile.

Thank you BRENDA, for reading and appreciating the poem.

Good to know, the significance of ‘Dash’, at your place. Well, what is my ‘dash’?

That question reminds me of the famous lines, by the great Robert Frost—and miles to go, before I sleep—-‘

Although, I am satisfied with what I have done so far, there are still many other things, which I would like to do. Let’s see how much, I can do. Well, the effort is on.

Thank you for sharing this on FB group, as well.

Have a good day, and stay safe.

I love this one.

Where I come from we call this...Dash.

When you die there is a dash between your birthdate and the date you are deceased.

Hence...what is your Dash?

Honestly, these thoughts keep on coming to my mind everyday. If I don’t do anything worthwhile on a day, I feel guilty of having wasted that day. Basically I composed this poem to motivate myself. Glad to see that other readers are finding it important.

Thank you so much for all the love, support and blessings. Wish you and your family Happy Holidays.

Thank you Prantika, for getting the message of the poem.

You expressed it beautifully. Every day is a new day, full of new hopes and new possibilities. We should try to make the most of it. No one else is responsible for our deeds or misdeeds. And we are in full charge of improving ourselves.

Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated.

As we grow older, sometimes we do look back, about our achievements or failures. We can’t reverse the past, but we can certainly improve our future.

Thank you for your positive and valuable thoughts. Much appreciated.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on December 21, 2019:

The way you portray our lives as some blank pages in a book is creative. I like the idea that each day we get a new page and, therefore, a fresh start. It is never too late to change our ways and live the best lives possible. Wishing you many blessings at this time of year.

Devika Primic on December 21, 2019:

Hi just seen this poem and had to come by. A wonderful thought here about our lives but in a blank book. You gave a lot here and I loved it!

Prantika Samanta from Kolkata, India on December 20, 2019:

This is a wonderful poem that encourages us to keep moving forward despite setbacks. Rightly said, we all have our fair share of pains and woes but filling a new page everyday is essential. We must start a new day with new hope, enthusiasm, and positivity. Every pain teaches us a new thing and every joy boosts our confidence.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on December 20, 2019:

I really like your poem, Chitrangada. This poem is accurate as we do fill in the pages each day and each day can be a new start. I think this is a very thoughtful way to look at our lives and decide if we are happy with the way we have lived. I hope at the end that I look back and say, "Well done!" Thanks for such a thought-provoking poem.

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on December 19, 2019:

This is a very inspirational poem. What a great and important idea to think about the book that we are creating and what it contains. As you say, while we're alive there's still time to write some good pages.

Audrey Hunt from Idyllwild Ca. on December 19, 2019:

What an exquisite poem this is. Filling the pages of our book of life gives us a rare way to appreciate who we are. The bad choices we sometimes make are opportunities for us to grow and do better. The happy, fun, traces of good times can carry us through the dark times.

Thank you, so much, for creating this beautiful reminder.! Blessings and love to you and yours.

Audrey

Lora Hollings on December 19, 2019:

This is a beautiful poem, Chitrangada. I really love your theme of comparing life to the blank pages in a book and filling them with a meaningful and happy life. This poem causes us to pause and think about what our life's story is going to read in the end. Did we hurt more people than we helped? Were we more interested in satisfying our own ego in relationships than in seeing another person and their needs too? And did our life have meaning? Did we do something for others or did our actions contribute to others in a positive way? These are profound questions that we all need to ask ourselves at some point or another. The earlier the better because then we can change our path earlier on. I enjoyed your poem and its reflective nature. Thanks for sharing!

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on December 19, 2019:

This is a wonderful poem, Chitrangada. I love the concept. I hope my pages are filled with mostly positive stuff.
