FATHER

The first rays of love

That radiate into life

And keep shining throughout,

Shine through his eyes,

In his tender care, as we grow,

In his strict tones, as we learn,

In his often wordless pride on success,

In his cautions regarding failures,

In his patience and support in struggles ....

That mountain of strength,

Ocean of affection,

Sky of support,

Glowing Sun of inspiration,

And guiding wind of integrity

Is FATHER!!

Love you, Pappa !!

Dedicated to all wonderful fathers on Father's Day - 20-06-2021.

Happy Father's Day - today and everyday.

Fathers are unsung super-heros.

And the task of putting that glory into words is pretty too difficult. I realized that as I tried to write something that could be a good enough expression.

I have seen quite a few fathers playing more sensitive and sensible roles in the lives of their kids than their mothers, just like many a mothers playing roles of both parents in the lives of their kids, owing to some well-known social / domestic problems. They appear like men with the heart of a mother, perhaps a heart softer than that of a mother. I salute all those fathers.

My father, truly, is my super-hero. He is an Engineer - a Mechanical Engineer - a successful professional, a poet and a composer and was an excellent singer, before singing lost its place in the domain of his priorities. I still sing and teach the three English songs he wrote for me, as I grew up. I have presented several of his lyrics and compositions, in live programmes, in audio albums and on All India Radio, over the years. He is deeply spiritual, though silent about his prayerfulness.

He is an inspiration to me and our family, as also to many, many others, for his expertise and his dedication towards work, his wisdom and his simplicity.

There are so many memories and so much that I can write about him. May be some other day.

Wishing everyone a Happy Father's Day - today and everyday.

Thanks, Vidyaji for your nice comments. True, my Dad is a very talented person. He learnt so much during his time, with much lesser resources and support than what we have had. He is a self-made person in the real sense of the word. My grandfather was a businessman in a small town and my grandmother was illiterate, as most ladies during those days used to be .... And, he has helped so many people - financially, intellectually, morally - with his goodwill and compassion as he himself progressed and prospered in life. Always a giver and a forgiver.

Thanks, dear Chitrangadaji for your loving comments. Pappa is definitely proud of me. Also, he has perhaps sustained magnified versions of the pains I have come across in life as he is my father. So it is with my mother and my brother. My sense of tolerance and idealism perhaps helped me sustain, along with the unfailing Grace of the Almighty and I was busy overcoming the situations all around, but they saw me struggle and felt pretty helpless under many a trying situations, amidst their own ordeals troubling them, hurting them and testing them aggressively.

Life is the most beautiful gift of the Almighty as long as we are able to sail safe of the challenges that the games of Sattva, Rajas and Tamas keep posing every moment into it. Our traditional philosophers have often called human beings puppets of circumstances, as those who choose to create circumstances to their liking and desires by hook or by crook keep creating snares of troubles all around. Fortunately, there are good people around as well :) :) And good old Krishna is always there :) :)

A heartfelt and beautiful poem, and a well expressed tribute to your father. Though, it’s so difficult to describe, what all our parents do for their children. But, you have done this with deep love and feelings for your father. The family pictures are lovely. Your father must be so proud of you, as you have inherited so many qualities from him.
