A Poem called "Farewell, Dear Friend"

Farewell, Dear Friend ~

You were a shooting star,

One of those that die young because they shine so bright.

In life we all gain scar by scar,

But your perish left a wound that will never be alright.

You raised above all sadness,

Moved to a world with no grief.

Forced to leave us here, in cold madness,

The road was a heartless thief.

It stole your soul and all your might,

And took your precious life.

Your loved ones' screams are piercing the night,

We'd rather have taken the knife.

We howl for you and cry for you,

Calling out your name.

Deep inside, we know it's true,

This is no longer a game.

Farewell, our knight, farewell, dear friend,

You were loved and absolute best.

We promise, for you we'll try to mend,

And for us, you try to peacefully rest.

Your dreams we'll live, your goals achieve,

The memory of you we'll always defend.

Farewell, dearest friend, and please remember:

A farewell is goodbye, and not the end.

- A Poet in Attempt

~ About the Poem

We've all been told that time will heal everything. In reality, the statement isn't completely true. There are losses we'll forever feel, and some wounds will never mend. We only learn to live with the agony, therefore, we endure.

There are people out there, in the world, far more precious to us, and losing them tears us apart irreparably.

Those people are worth every pain we feel for them, every tear we shed because they are the most cherished loved ones we have.

This poem is dedicated to one of my dearest friends, who's no longer with us. He was a biker with the gentlest heart, and he ended his time on the Earth far too early. He will be missed until the very end.

Farewell, dear friend, until we meet again, on some better road.

Lovely poem, Ivana. I lost one of my best friends last year. She lost her battle against breast cancer. I was very sad, she used to be my roommate. We were really close. I didn't get a chance to go to her funeral as I was in the United States. Your poem reminds me of her. Thank you for sharing, Ivana.

This tribute tears at the heart and celebrates a dear friend. It’s been a year, only a year, so I imagine the wound is still raw. It will heal over in time, but in fact will remain and turn to a scar that you’ll carry forever. It will perhaps hurt less over time, too, but it will always be present. Outstanding way to honor a very special friend.
