Family Around The Campfire

A Pot on the Fire

The Campfire

The campfire dances
Its flames leaping into the air
Star clad skies punctuate the darkness
The cicados sing with abandon and flair

The moonbeams shine through the pines
Their shadows with their trunks align
Aroma of the barbecue fills the nostrils
whetting the appetite and calling us to dine.

On roasted lamb and sausage so fragrant
a sumpteous meal will not leave our hunger vacant,
With stories and jokes
and memories so dear

A night to remember with family and friends
Where love wafts through our hearts
like a golden thread weaving us closer
time stands still, like the moon shining quietly
over the hill.

Bring and Share

A Barbecue is such an easy way to entertain friends, as it needs not too much washing up afterwards and everyone can bring something to share too.

I love a good barbecue and your poem conjures up images of those wonderful evenings where friends and family come together. It ticks all the boxes for me - good food, good company and very little washing up. Lovely poem Diana.
