Fall and Rise

fallingdown

"Success is measured by how high you bounce when you hit bottom” – George S. Patton

They say when we hit rock bottom there is no other way but up

but they forgot to say that the impact of the fall from the top

makes it very hard to get up and can leave us sprawled on the ground

we want to cry and ask for help but can't even utter a sound

fortunate are those who have people around to lend them a hand

all willing to assist them until they're ready to fully stand

some were left lying on the ground totally crippled by the fall

crushed and dejected, they wonder why tragedy to them has befall

others tried hard to pull themselves up only to be trampled upon

surprised by all the betrayals, their so-called friends were now all gone

few are lucky to be able to stand as soon as they dropped down

remembered to keep the experience as they slowly come around

others crawled, rose, and fell down but slowly picked themselves up again

with pride, they can look back and say all their efforts were not in vain

we can fall several times leaving us all broken and daunted

what matters most is we made it through, so believe and move ahead

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail.”– Confucius

Amen to that!

Trusting in God is the best pathway.

He definitely helps guide us when we are lost.

I don't think I could have ever survived without him in my corner.

Thank you for the comment Brenda. Indeed I have realized to bank with God and not to invest too much in people.

It is very difficult to get back up but the process makes us realize our own strength.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on February 22, 2021:

This poem tells the story of oneself being hurt. It happens to us all.

Picking oneself back up is a difficult task. If we manage, I suppose it makes us stronger & a bit less trusting.
