Faithful Poems From the Beach - Vol 2

Volume 2

Welcome to the second installment of FaithFul Poems from the beach. Since I’ve been at home gazing out my windows over the last 7 months I’ve done a lot of reading the Bible, writing and artwork. Most of my new writing has been in the form of inspirational poems and articles. I have also written a few short stories here or there.

I have included in this volume of FaithFul Poems some of my recent poems, I did not carry a theme through each of the poems as I did in the first volume instead I just picked poems and matched them with a Bible verse which went with the theme of the poem. I hope, you enjoy each of these new poems.

Revelation 3:20,

ESV “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

Jesus says to John he stands at the door of mankind's heart waiting, hoping for the door to open so He can come in and reside. The first poem today is about allowing Jesus in so you can sit down with Him.

Sitting With the Lord

Welcome to my home

Won’t you come in

Sit with me

Chat for awhile

We’ll talk about

love

life

I’ll give you a smile

No

You’re to busy

I understand

Come back sometime

If you can

Till then

I’ll be waiting

With

Open heart

Open hands

John 14:2

In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? Jesus said Heaven is going to be like a big mansion with many rooms. Others say Heaven will be paved with streets of gold. Whatever Heaven is like it will be a joy to get there because surely it will be a better place.

The poem Better Place is based on a dream of going to Heaven and the disappointment in the fact it was only a dream.

A Better Place

I dreamed of a better place

In my dreams last night

Where people were full of joy

What a beautiful sight

Wish it were true, don’t you

Wish it were true, don’t you

I saw no pain, no suffering

No evil words came my way

Everyone danced to the tune

At the dawn of a new day

Everyone knew one to the other

Each was a good friend to all

War ceased to be a problem

Love ripped down all the walls

I dreamed of a better place

In my dreams last night

Where people were full of joy

What a beautiful sight

Wish it were true, don’t you

Wish it were true, don’t you

I dreamed of a better place

In my dreams last night

Where people were full of joy

What a beautiful sight

I saw Jesus standing there

His arm were opened wide

He said welcome “Good and faithful servan

Come and stand by my side

I dreamed of a better place

In my dreams last night

But when my eyes opened

The dream faded from sight

2 Timothy 3:16

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”

The Bible is said to be the inspired Word of God. As such anyone who claim to believe and walk in faith should regard the Bible as the Way and wisdom for a better life. A person who follows Jesus must also believe the inerrant truth of the Bible and be ready to take the time to study the Word everyday day in order to gain a deeper knowledge of the Word.

You Hear

You hear the Word

Now that’s ok

But what do you do

With the Word

Each and every day

Do you read it

Do you study it

Do you take it to heart

Do you live it

Do you carry it

To a lost and lonely world

You hear the Word

Now that’s ok

But what do you do

With the Word

Each and every day

Do you believe it

Do you treasure it

More and more each day

You hear the Word

Now that’s ok

But what do you do

With the Word

Each and every day

God’s Word is alive and well

It is the same today as yesterday

It can change the hearts of those

Who have come to lose their way

You hear the Word

Now that’s ok

But what do you do

With the Word

Each and every day

What do you do with His Word

Each and everyday

James 1:12

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

The Christian life is not one of sitting around but of getting up and getting out in the world around. There are many out there who need the help that maybe only you can be the one to help them. The poem we We Say is about being being “doers” as James says.

faith-poems-vol-2

We Say

We say we believe

Jesus rose from the dead

We say we believe

All the words that He said

We say we believe

He can save us from our sins

We say we believe

Of the Kingdom, we’ll one day live in

But when it comes to the real nitty gritty

Of getting our hands and feet dirty

We quickly forget the promise we made

To proclaim the Word in our Saviors name

Instead we sit back and watch the world

Living, waiting for the day of our reward

As the world ever so quickly fades to night

Come man of God it is time to be the light

We say we believe

Jesus rose from the dead

We say we believe

All the words that He said

We say we believe

He can save us from our sins

We say we believe

Of the Kingdom, we’ll live in

Tell the world of the truth you believe

Of times in your life where you’ve seen

God pull you through all the bad times

Hold you up get you back on your feet

Proverbs 11:14

“Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.”

As Christians we’re all in this together so we must all band together in order to insure the church grows. In order to do this those who are wiser in the faith must come along side those who may need a little more encouragement. This is the basis for the poem Leading Others Along.

faith-poems-vol-2

Leading Others Along

You call me to lead others of the faith

In a better knowledge of your saving grace

I have known for so many, many years

But Lord I don’t know if I’m really the man

To help others further understand the plan

You have for the lives of those you’ve called

I barely know know how to get through

The life which you have called me too

The steps I need to take each new day

Still Lord you call me to lead, lead

Help others plant their own seeds

But I don’t know the words to speak

You call me to lead others of the faith

In a better knowledge of your saving grace

I have known for so many, many years

I guess I’ll do what I always seek to do

Pray for you to guide me on through

And To give me the words I need to say

It’s how I live my life, how I live each day

The Final Words

Reading the Bible and writing down what you learn in whatever form you choose is one ways to retain what you learn. When I read, I.change what I learn into a poem. This helps me retain more of what I read. Try it sometime you may surprised. I hope you enjoyed these poems. Until the next time keep reading the Word.
