Fading Heartbreak

For so long I wanted to hold on to your light

So I imagined that dream I longed to reignite

But over time I have grown

Better to brighten the light on my own

For I felt a kind of love, connected to part of your soul

But it soon faded, as you returned to your real goal

The moments and laughter that we shared

Led me to believe you deeply cared

But was it all a bit of a game?

Still, I can’t walk away in shame

My intentions were so true

And my heart was left quite blue

But I have worked to rise above

There is more than one path for love

Love is wonderful and heartbreak is part of life. It would be nice one without the other but it could never happen. I think when our heart is broken we know such sadness that it reminds us we don't want to go through that again and we don't want other people to feel the pain we feel. Thank you for writing such a beautiful poem. I try to forget about the sad times but maybe in some crazy way they make the good times even better. Have a beautiful night.

Heart break can really suck every ounce of happiness from one's mind. However strong are those, who can keep on going no matter what.

It was a good read.

Love is heartbreak, but what's life without love????

Absolutely well written and well said...

Sometimes love can be tricky. To rise above, noting there is more than one path. Already on the road to recovery.

Yes, we can feel so good when we are in love, yet you have pointed out that we can use that love, even when it has faded on the other person's part, to make ourselves better. That is TRUE love.

Thank you Kyler, great feedback.

Though I wish I had never known the bitter feeling of heartbreak, the sweetness of the love I've shared and continue to share with others makes it worth it; your poem reminded me of the value of what I have and what I have lost.

Thank you for sharing.
