Art and Poetry: Everytime

Mohan is a family physician, film and TV aficionado, a keen bibliophile and an eclectic scribbler.

The sign of a true life long romance is when every time feels like the first time. Is it possible to feel that same rush of adrenaline, the fluttering heart and the fanciful thoughts every time?

Can we capture the essence of that budding romance and bottle it up to re-use the feeling, the emotion?

When our eyes are open, our heart is full of love then you notice something new every time. Something to admire and relish, something that brings you out in a smile of belonging.

Can Every time feel like the first time...

Here with the wonderful paintings of Andre Kohn, is my song for those everytime- first-timers.

Everytime is like the first time

As my world opens and you come walking through

Everytime is like the first time

As you move closer and take up all my view

Everytime is like the first time

When I see you smiling like the way you do

Everytime is like the first time

When our lips unite and I dissolve in you

There’s a newness in our touch

And without saying much

The silent looks that take

And the stories that we make

I have never ever known

After so much has been shown

New adventures that keep

Stopping me from seeking sleep

Everytime is like the first time

As I see me in your eyes that hypnotise

Everytime is like the first time

My own truth is you in a world of lies

Everytime is like the first time

When time and space stand still as we embrace

Everytime is like the first time

As two heartbeats join in eternal race

When all is said and done

And two has become one

You keep me on my toes

Making me forget my woes

There’s always something new

In my world when it is you

You keep me guessing till the end

Making all my life transcend

Everytime is like the first time

As I warm my skin in your butterfly touch

Everytime is like the first time

As you whisper my name closer still so much

Everytime is like the first time

Come fly with me in love’s speed of light

Everytime is like the first time

As we build cities in the corner of our night

As the way it feels for me

In you also I can see

Do tell me again girl

Does your world feel in a whirl

Take me closer still

Nothing is left out of my will

I'll sacrifice my sanity

For you,me and eternity

Everytime is like the first time

As my world opens and you come walking through

Everytime is like the first time

As you move closer and take up all my view

Everytime is like the first time

When I see you smiling like the way you do

Everytime is like the first time

When our lips unite and I dissolve in you...

Andre Kohn

Andre Kohn

A brief Biography of Andre Kohn

Andre Kohn was very much influenced by his childhood upbringing in the scenic Southern Russia, near the Caspian sea. Born in an artistic family - to a symphony violinist mother and a linguist father- he was inspired both internally by his own nurturing and externally by the mountains and sea that formed part of his childhood landscape.

His parents gave unrestricted access to arts and culture and encouraged their child to draw everywhere- including the wallpaper!

Chosen at the tender age of 15 as an apprentice in the Moscow studios of artists, Kohn enjoyed his period in the transforming Russian art scene with prodigious talents. His tutelage was under Russian's last great impressionists. He soon developed his own style and staged a one man show at the invitation from the Artist's Union of Bulgaria (Europe) in one of their country's major exhibition halls. Still in his first year of college, Kohn was the only student so honoured for the year.

His father was a colonel in the Russian Army and was the first candidate to participate in the post-Cold War officer exchange program at the U.S. Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1993, when Kohn was visiting his parents in america, his father announced his intention to defect to USA and Kohn's life changed forever.

Although slow in gestation, the young Russian's figurative impressionism soon took the American art scene by storm. Kohn's work is represented by major galleries in the United States and he is a regular contributor to invitational exhibitions.

I love his colour palette and his impressionistic depiction of characters in their emotional and vulnerable states. There is something old and new in his imagery. The feeling is one of classical slant in a modern canvas. All the more lovely for it.
