Let us escape into history with
a mad man in a bright blue police box.
Or maybe into New York, full of men
of iron, spiders, gods, hulks, kings, captains.
Take a step back from the world you once knew,
and run off to a world with men of steel,
stalking bats, speedsters, green arrows and more.
Escape into a world of fantasy.
Where fire dances off fingertips
and mountains are kicked into existence.
Where men skip along air currents, ride the
waves, tame the thunder, balance light and dark.
Or maybe a world defined by science.
Where man’s taken residence in the stars
and have become attuned to the countless
worlds aside from their own. Yes, let us run
from the world we know. A world abundant
with pain, strife and misery. A world full
of fear of the unknown. One where people
above pull our strings for their own endgame.
One where you are not allowed to hold an
opinion, or else you face resentment.
Why don’t we escape from this world that cries
for action but does little to fix the
problem? From a world whose morality
has decayed well beyond recognition?
Why can’t we truly escape, to the worlds
we constantly imagine ourselves in?
