End of April Couplets II (2022)
My name is Jamie Lee Hamann and I started sharing poetry articles back in 2013. Every year I share a poem a day in April.
End of April Couplets II (2022)
Acrylic paint on palette freshly swirled
these colors this art makes up my whole world.
So many pennies I still need to toss
so many lone bridges still left to cross.
To soften hard edges with Heaven's Lathe
and create beauty as message of faith.
Only a small percent of us drink our fill
on the land of God run by our own free will.
To grab precious time while Earth slightly tilts
with canvas gessoed on long-legged stilts.
To try to grab minutes to let our tea seep
examine old art and try not to weep.
The sour essence of the lemon rind
with sugar added so we can be kind.
Now I know the foundation is not gone
and this piece will benefit from crayon.
April seems to work in subtle ways
when color is added upon the grays.
Places where I once felt the need to wander
know I hardly take the time to gander.
Carried down river upon the flood
of art and family with acrylic blood.
