I can't seem to stop writing poetry or reading poetry. I think it is safe to say I love poetry and I love sharing great poetry with others.
April Couplets (2021)
A deeper understanding of my love
“as I stand alone” says a quiet dove.
An April scarred into my memory
a month of conflict and strong family.
In trying times I did not sculpt struggle
through the pain I found rain drops to smuggle.
As I dream of a fruitful garden this year
I assess my life and face every fear.
Return to these couplets an April later
after year posing as an educator.
To a mind in the act of closing
to focus on act of composing.
Creating find compassion through prayer
pretend I am a practiced believer.
A family, a career, and a deeper dream
not happy with the water from local stream.
Keep planning, keep writing, keep moving forward
find rhythm in the paddling shoreward.
One day when eyesight is bad I will read
without competitive spirit or slight greed.
An old man surrounded by stacks of books
a squint through bifocals ignores stern looks.
