Down By The Beach
Reminiscing Of When We Were Young
The first day of summer
Walking and talking
Looking at the water and sand across the beach
The salty air caressing softy against my lips
People scattered here and there
Like sprinkles across vanilla ice cream
Heavy in some spots and very thin others
Sea gulls flying up above
Looking for a quiet spot to land
The smell of cheese pizza and sweet sausages on the grill
Both making my stomach growl
Fried dough to fresh lemonade and ice cold drinks
Homemade fudge to every flavor ice cream imaginable
Loud whistles and bells coming from amusement games
Playing from a nearby arcade
Each creating a unique summertime experience

Ah, thank you for the memories of summers past. Right now we are experiencing autumn weather here but on Friday Sid and I are heading for Florida so things will definitely warm up.

Marlene Bertrand I am glad I had the fun I did as a child. I know today is modern and fast a lot more fast paced than when I was young. Back then simple pleasures brought us the most joy. The smells the sounds and very little money so anything we did do was extra special. Even playing a little today brings back a flood of good times. The funny thing is the prizes are still the cheapest and it is all about the win.(lol) I haven't had so many laughs in one day Thank you so much for reading and sharing,

Your poem is beautiful and brought back sweet memories of the times I made summer trips to the beach boardwalk.
