Val enjoys writing his own style of what resembles poetry, just hoping to catch someone's heart on the same page.
It is possible to continue turning the other cheek when one has stopped counting.
-- Matshona Dhlivayo
I never turned the other cheek
for that second proverbial slap
even while I was little and weak
I wouldn't fall for any of that crap.
Many folks endure the abuse
as if they are asking for more
not aware they could choose
what's behind a bigger door.
Life is too short for a matching test
other than a possible brief probation
but if it doesn't seem to serve us best
we might as well go scrap that relation.
Sometimes we fall for a promised change
giving second, and third chance to our love
only to see it going more and more strange
while we fall for every new song of our dove.
So the only time when I'd turn the other cheek
if a kiss is coming hotter than the first one
it's the "abuse" I'll endure, so to speak
not thinking to either fight or to run.
I would turn religious not even thinking twice
but believing in kiss-for-kiss, not tooth-for-tooth
seeing in that religious racket something very nice
even if I'm turning prophet with my own made up truth.
